Al Franken Is A Fucking Liar

Al Franken, once beloved for his work on Saturday Night Live, went on to became a Democratic Senator from 2009-2018. He played it safe during his near-decade in office, blindly aligning himself with the Establishment, cheerleading for the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hillary Clinton. He posted an opinion piece on CNN today titled “How Biden Wins“. It was so nauseating that I decided to copy/paste the entire article (in red) along with my commentary to expose just how big of a liar Al Franken, and the larger Democratic Party, really is.

How Biden wins

Editor’s Note: Al Franken, a Democrat, is a writer, former Senator, and currently host of the Al Franken podcast. In the Senate, he served on the Judiciary, Health, Education, Labor, and Pension, Energy and Natural Resources, and Indian Affairs committees. He is the author or four New York Times number one bestsellers The opinions expressed in this commentary are his own. View more opinion articles on CNN.

(CNN) When your opponent is digging himself a hole, you let him keep digging. By design or necessity, Joe Biden has laid low since we all sheltered in place, allowing President Donald Trump to turn the November election into a referendum on Donald Trump. And right now, Donald Trump appears to be losing badly to Donald Trump.

Given Trump’s inability to admit and learn from mistakes, there is the real possibility that he will continue to crash and burn all the way through to November 3. But Biden and Democrats can’t count on that. Instead, they must offer the American people a real rationale for voting in the fall for three reasons.

Al Franken is correct that voters need a legit reason to vote for Biden, not just against Trump. Problem is, the Democratic Party hasn’t learned from any of their mistakes.

The first, of course, is that a Trump victory would be a disaster for everything Democrats hold dear. Here’s a short list — democracy, economic justice, social justice and justice. That leaves out a whole bunch — for instance, providing health care for all Americans and global warming. Stuff like that.

Democracy
?? Last I checked, the Democratic Party rigged the 2016 Presidential primary and a DNC lawyer, while falling short of admitting this occurred, did openly argued in Court that the DNC would have had the legal right to do exactly that.DNC lawyerA select few Democratic insiders also admitted that the 2016 primary was rigged, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and former-DNC Chair Donna Brazile.

The Democrats also rigged the 2018 primary, as exposed by The Intercept.

And of course, the Democrats rigged the 2020 Presidental primary, as proven by the exit poll discrepancies that clearly indicate severe election fraud:

Exit Polls

Secondly, between now and November, Trump and the Republicans will do everything they can to cheat. That means using every tool possible to suppress votes, including a full court press to prevent vote-by-mail, even if we are still deep in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Republican Party is absolutely engaged in voter suppression tactics, that much is true. But for Al Franken to act like the Democratic Party isn’t guilty of the exact same tactics is stunning, but not surprising. Whether holding closed primaries (preventing Independents from voting) or outright purging voters from the rolls, Democrats have been engaging in voter suppression for years, if not decades.

Again, there are many examples of this. But the most egregious and indisputable example was when the New York City Board of Elections de-registered 200,000 voters from the rolls in 2016. Sanders and Clinton had been in an extremely competitive primary until New York delivered a death blow to the Sanders campaign. It was all downhill after that. 117,000 of those purged voters were from Brooklyn alone, where Bernie Sanders was born and raised, and was expected to have a very strong voter turnout after having just held an incredible rally of 30,000 in Brooklyn:

The reason this example of election fraud is so indisputable is because the NYC Board of Elections admitted that they did this and admitted that they had done so illegally.

If it had been due to a computer error or otherwise an accident it wouldn’t have been deemed illegal and instead merely the result of incompetence. This was not the case, which is why it constituted textbook election fraud. They intentionally purged nearly a quarter of a million voters to help Hillary secure the nomination and confessed to doing it. Nothing happened. There was no trial, no penalty. The NYC Board of Elections didn’t even fire any of their members.

Instead, as a result of a lawsuit, they agreed only to re-register the voters that they had illegally purged and would “review” their procedures and submit how they would prevent it from reoccurring. That’s like if bank robbers said they’d give back the money they stole and review how they robbed the bank to prevent doing it again, as if there were ever any mystery behind it. This was an incredible scandal, the most blatant, provable example of election fraud in modern history, yet the the corporate media barely even mentioned it.

But Al Franken suggests only Republicans cheat? Give me a fucking break.

More on this here. And here. And here:

Third, if Trump loses a close election, he may very well refuse to leave.

If Trump loses he would be legally forced to leave the White House. Period. Having said that, I predict he won’t have to because Biden won’t have the support to defeat him. The only way Trump loses is if the DNC does a complete 180, becomes the Party of the People, and nominates a non-corporate populist like Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard. That won’t happen because the DNC would rather lose to Trump than win with a progressive. The DNC’s primary goal, shared by the RNC, is to ensure that the Oval Office remains occupied by a corporate puppet. Whether that person is a Republican or a Democrat is a distant secondary concern. That’s why they rigged the 2016 primary for Hillary despite her being the second most unfavored politician in America. They didn’t care if they won and they don’t care if they win now.

Biden has to win by a lot. And to do that and carry Democrats to a majority in the Senate, he has to offer Americans a vision of what America can be. Recent polls show that pride in the US is at it’s lowest in nearly 20 years, with Republicans showing the steepest decline. Americans have, ironically, lost the sense that America is great. That we are exceptional. That we are still the world’s indispensable nation.

Did you notice that Al Franken didn’t bother to explore WHY Americans have less pride in their country? Probably because both Democratic and Republican lawmakers are to blame and he knows it. We’re the only country in the developed world that doesn’t provide healthcare to all citizens despite being the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, even in the midst of a global pandemic. We have the highest incarceration rates in the world, a declining life expectancy, gestapo cops assaulting and killing those they are supposed to serve and protect, and a record level of income inequality that rivals that of Ancient Egypt. While these problems have undoubtedly worsened under President Trump, they have existed for decades under both Republican and Democratic watch. But Al Franken cannot address these issues without addressing his own Party’s complicity, so he dodges it.

It’s not that Americans don’t want us to be that. But just looking around, most Americans might think that we’re no longer up to it. Especially right now.

“Just looking around” isn’t a way to gauge what Americans actually think. But okay, Al. Continue with your bullshit.

The pandemic has laid bare weaknesses that already existed. A dysfunctional and corrupt federal government. A hopelessly divided political class, unable to address problems that we used to tackle — like our crumbling infrastructure (or, more immediately, providing personal protective equipment to our frontline health care workers). An economy in which most workers deemed essential are barely paid enough to get by. Racial disparities in income, wealth and health care. And in criminal justice.

Al Franken is correct about the weaknesses he lists and that they already existed, but he fails to address any of the reasoning behind them. He doesn’t dare mention Joe Biden’s 1994 Crime Bill. He doesn’t dare mention Kamala Harris’s support of the private prison industry. He doesn’t dare mention Obama giving trillions to Wall Street while allowing 9 million Americans to be kicked out of their homes. He can’t point fingers without having fingers pointed back at his own Party so, again, he skips over any genuine analysis.

Instead, Franken broadly blames a “hopelessly divided political class”. Perhaps this is true within Congress, but the American people themselves are not divided on most major issues. A majority supports Medicare For All, a Green New Deal, legalizing marijuana, a living wage, an end to illegal regime-change wars, etc. The real problem that Al Franken fails to address is the division between We The People and our Corporate-owned Congress.

Internationally, we have ceded our leadership, made alliances with brutal dictators, and alienated allies. The Kurds lost 11,000 men and women fighting ISIS on our behalf in Syria, only to be abandoned by Trump — a move he justified by pointing out that the Kurds had not been at Normandy. Well, you know who was at Normandy? Our big NATO ally, Germany! Hell, if it weren’t for the Germans, there would have been no D-Day!

Al Franken is lying and he knows it. The United States was not fighting ISIS in Syria. ISIS was working for the CIA to destabilize Syria and, ultimately, overthrow President Assad. Even the pro-war New York Times exposed this CIA effort, nicknamed Timber Sycamore, though they only referred to ISIS only as “Syrian rebels”. Whenever the corporate media mentions “Syrian rebels”, they are talking about ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist groups.

Tulsi Gabbard was the only member of Congress to address this corruption and introduced a bill called the “Stop Arming Terrorists Act” (H.R.608) in 2016 to end the CIA-funding of terrorist organizations.

You’d think passing such a bill would have been a no-brainer, but guess what? Out of the entire 435 member House of Representatives only 14 co-sponsored the bill (6 of which were Democrats). It was never even brought up for a vote. The only conclusion we can draw from this is that Establishment Democrats and Republicans both overwhelmingly supported the continued funding of terrorists, otherwise they would have supported the bill. Hard to believe, I know, but the legislation and the short list of co-sponsors is RIGHT HERE as a matter of Congressional record.

Rand Paul introduced the same bill in the Senate (S.532). Al Franken was still a Senator and refused to co-sponsor the bill. In fact, no Senator signed on to the legislation. Not even Bernie Sanders. Again, I know this is hard to believe. See for yourself RIGHT HERE. Isn’t it interesting that the corporate media never reported about this? It’s almost as if they were instructed to push pro-war propaganda or something… (they were).

“There is no question that there was a massive chemical attack… Doctors without Borders was there to confirm there were toxins. This is an outrage. It is hideous. There has to be a response.” – Senator Al Franken

U.S. Intelligence accused Assad of using sarin gas against his own people to justify removing him from power. Those efforts failed, but the attempt still led to over 400,000 Syrians being killed and another 700,000 Syrians being displaced. The gas attack claims were later proven to be false. CNN, a propagandist machine of the U.S. Government, accidentally provided one of the most telling pieces of evidence that these gas attacks weren’t legitimate. They hilariously sent a reporter to the region who sniffed a backpack that had allegedly been exposed to the deadly nerve agent, as if that somehow constituted proof.

This only helped expose how truly ridiculous the claim really was. If there really had been a sarin gas attack, that reporter wouldn’t have taken such a risk and, if she had, she would have had serious health problems as a result.

Not only were the reasons for being in Syria completely unjustified to begin with, but we were funding terrorist organizations in the process. Yet Al Franken supported the war, previously lied about the justification for it, and is now lying in his op-ed article claiming that we were fighting one of the very same terrorist organizations that we’d been funding. Surprisingly, it was President Trump who ended this CIA program.

Last month, Trump whiffed on the ultimate softball question when Sean Hannity asked him what he hoped to accomplish in a second term. Actually, he didn’t whiff. He took a third strike lobbed waist high over the heart of the plate. He had nothing. Nothing. Zero goals for a second term.

True.

Joe Biden needs to remind Americans what leadership is supposed to look like. Worldwide, we need to engage our allies if we are to challenge China’s emergence as the world’s preeminent economic and political superpower.

Joe Biden cannot “remind Americans what leadership is supposed to look like” because he’s consistently been a prime example of exactly what leadership shouldn’t look like. Plenty more on Biden’s corrupt history here. And here.

Domestically, we must restore Americans’ confidence in our ability to solve problems and make progress. Most Americans want to build on Obamacare, not abandon it.

False. Sure, most Americans want to build on Obamacare as opposed to doing nothing. But what they really want, overwhelmingly, is Medicare For All.

Medicare for All poll
It should be noted that according to the latest Gallup poll, only 25% of registered voters are Republican, 31% Democrat, and 40% Independent. So the overall support is actually much higher than 56%. Having said that, 56% is still a strong majority of Americans who favor Medicare For All. (LINK)

We want our government agencies run by competent professionals, not crooked cronies. We want a system of taxation that rewards work, not capital and that raises enough revenue to meet the needs of American families. We want to meaningfully address systemic racism. We want an educational system that works for every American child and every adult who wants to further herself in a 21st century economy. We want roads and bridges and trains which at least resemble those in other developed countries. We want a president who can not only answer Sean Hannity’s softball question, but also inspire us with his answer.

Then why has the Democratic Party supported trickle-down economics since the 80’s? Why does the Democratic Party support even more funding for our racist gestapo cops? Why has the Democratic Party never backed tuition-free college? Why hasn’t the Democratic Party pushed for any significant infrastructure bill during any of the eight years under Bill Clinton or any eight years under Barack Obama beyond mere rhetoric? Al Franken is absolutely correct that Americans want progress in these areas, but history and Biden’s official platform prove that he’s dead wrong to suggest that the Democratic Party has the solution. They do not.

We are America. Not so long ago that meant something. We are capable of restoring our place in the world and of being a nation that remembers that, as Paul Wellstone put it, “We all do better when we all do better.”

Jesus Christ. Way to pull out the platitudes, Al.

Joe Biden is not Franklin Roosevelt. But he is Joe Biden, a fundamentally decent man who could begin healing some of the divisions that this President has deliberately exploited and deepened.

A fundamentally decent man…?

He is a man of deep empathy who would inherit a wounded nation from a man incapable of caring about anyone other than himself.

Joe Biden previously declared that he had no empathy for the entire Millennial generation. Literally, that’s what he said. The outrage over this statement was widely circulated and Al Franken undoubtedly was aware of it before writing this op-ed for CNN. Yet he still had the dishonest audacity to describe Biden as a man of deep empathy.

But, first, he has to win. Which means he has to bring it.

Whatever that means.Nice piece, Al. You’re a fucking liar, a corrupt fraud, and this latest op-ed of yours perfectly encapsulates exactly why the dishonest Democratic Party is the problem, not the solution to the problem.
