If you told someone that the U.S. Government had a kill list of people targeted for elimination you’d likely be dismissed as delusional or paranoid. Understandably, because it’s not a subject the corporate media tends to bring up. And with good reason.
The idea that America, a supposed democracy with checks and balances, could even entertain an assassination program that includes American targets and bypasses Congress entirely is admittedly mind-boggling.
But yes, it’s real.
The kill list goes by the more innocuous name of DISPOSITION MATRIX. Sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie, but unfortunately it isn’t.
“The Disposition Matrix, informally known as a kill list, is a database of information for tracking, capturing, rendering, or killing suspected enemies of the United States. Developed by the Obama administration beginning in 2010, the “Disposition Matrix” goes beyond existing kill lists and is intended to become a permanent fixture of U.S. policy. The process determining criteria for killing is not public and was heavily shaped by National Counterterrorism Director and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John O. Brennan. Though White House, National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and CIA spokespeople have declined to comment on the database, officials have stated privately that kill lists will expand “for at least another decade”, if not indefinitely. One official stated “it’s a necessary part of what we do”. Paul R. Pillar, the former deputy director of the CIA’s counterterrorism center, has stated, “We are looking at something that is potentially indefinite.” (Read more here)
It’s important to keep in mind that these targets do not have to be charged with a crime. All that is required is for the U.S. Government to believe that an individual is a threat to national security. The National Security Council can weigh in on whether or not that person should be killed, which is as sick as it sounds. Then the President makes the final call and executions are carried out. It’s rare that we know who those targets are, but one that Obama ordered killed was a 16-year old American who was traveling in Yemen.
People scoffed at Trump saying, “You have to kill the families of terrorists” during the primary. Turns out we were already doing it under Obama. The American Gestapo isn’t in the business of saving lives. If even one American citizen (at least) can be killed in this manner, none of us should feel safe.
This is why a revolution must happen.
